The Meek Rewarded

I was compelled to write because it saddens me to think that "the meek" will only be rewarded once judgment has been wreaked on everyone else. Moreover, according to that passage, the meek must remain meek while hoping that those who are not meek will be punished; in itself, that hope, does not seem to be very meek to me.

Answer

I am afraid you do not understand it correctly. A meek person is one who strives to be like God, and "desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:4 ESV). God knows that people will reject his message ("evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived" - 2 Timothy 3:13 ESV) and some will even persecute believers (see 2 Timothy 3:12); the meek need to pray for these people (Matthew 5:44).

There is no room in God's family for "lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God", who even go to the point of "having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power" (see Romans 1:18-32; 2 Timothy 3:2-5; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
